Mr. Figuli is a practicing attorney, owner of Hussian Colleges (a system of private colleges focused on art, design, IT and healthcare programs) and leader in higher education operations and regulatory compliance. He was the co-founder of University Ventures, a $300 million private equity fund formed for the purpose of investing in higher education institutions and enterprises. Mr. Figuli holds a BA in Mathematics and a Juris Doctor from Cleveland State University.

Consultant to over 250 colleges and universities on a variety of legal and management issues, including mergers , acquisitions and divestitures, governing board orientation, employee and faculty development & negotiation, institution-wide policies and procedures, technology transfer, profit-making venture development, executive search, student catalog and handbook development and revision, financial aid audit appeals, new program development, pension plan compliance analysis, collective bargaining  grievance management and bylaw revision.

Mr. Figuli has extensive experience at the University board level having been a trustee at multiple universities and higher education groups including:  Sofia University, Harrisburg University of Science and Technology, Ponce College of Medicine, Alliant International University, Mount Marty College, Teikyo-Post University, Marycrest International University, Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries, Southeastern College, Hussian College, and St. Luke College of Medicine.

Additionally, Mr. Figuli has been general counsel to 2 university systems in Colorado (Regis University and the University of Northern Colorado) and is the former chief legal counsel to the Montana and South Dakota board of regents of higher education.  He is licensed to practice before U.S. District Courts, Districts of Northern Ohio, South Dakota, Montana and Colorado, and all courts of the States of Ohio, Nebraska, South Dakota, Montana and Colorado.

He has authored or edited over 20 publications and is a frequent speaker and guest lecturer on trends facing colleges and universities, investment, higher education policy and institutional governance.
